Three people were shot during a
carjacking in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles early Wednesday, police
said.
The gunfire broke out about 3 a.m. at
Coronado and Temple streets when two men identified themselves as gang members
to three men in a white Chevrolet Cavalier who were dropping off a friend, LAPD
officials said.
The pair “claimed” a gang, said
something to the group, opened fire with a revolver and stole their car, police
officials said.
One of the victims was struck in the
arm, said Officer Liliana Preciado. Another was shot in the leg and the third
was grazed on the forehead, according to KNBC-TV.
The carjackers sped off in the car but
ditched it a few blocks later, police said. There have been no arrests.
The victims ran to a gas station, where
paramedics picked them up and took them to a hospital. The three wounded are
in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
