Anaheim police shot and killed an armed
man during a confrontation Saturday morning, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 8:30 a.m.
when officers confronted the man as he got out of a car they had been pursuing,
said Lt. Eric Trapp. The man then produced a gun, police said.
The incident began when police got a tip
on the whereabouts of a woman they were seeking on an arrest warrant, Trapp
said. Arriving at the location, they saw the woman and the man get into a
Toyota Prius, he said.
Officers followed the car into the city
of Orange, where it stopped near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and
Glassell Street, he said. The man then emerged from the vehicle with a gun.
It was unclear whether the man fired his
weapon, Trapp said. It was also unknown if more than one officer fired his gun
and how many times.
Trapp said the officers were wearing body
cameras at the time.
The identities of the two people that
officers were following have not yet been released.
