Introduction: CCTV Surveillance Cameras

A CCTV Camera or Closed Circuit TeleVision Camera, is a technology in which video cameras in one place are linked to monitors, or television screens, in a predetermined location. In contrast to broadcast television and digital television, which use radio or digital transmissions to deliver images non-specifically to many locations, a CCTV camera has a fixed connection to the monitors. The connection may be made through wiring or a scrambled radio transmission that is reorganized by the receiver. This technology is frequently employed in Video surveillance.

A CCTV camera may be equipped with many special features, such as the ability to tilt, pan across the room, or pick up images in the dark. A modern CCTV camera can also pick up color, get accurate pictures of small objects at large distances, or make use of video content analysis (VCA). VCA links the camera to a computer, which can then search the video for suspicious activities or specific targets; for example, a red van or a person that loitered near the site of a crime. Other features that can be applied to such videos include facial recognition and biometrics, which are used, imperfectly, to identify individuals by facial features or movements. These cameras are often managed from a control room in another part of the building or in another building entirely.

CCTV surveillance has been a controversial issue that sometimes pits security against privacy. While the CCTV camera has been useful in preventing crime, speeding up the process of finding, charging, and convicting criminals, and combating terrorism, it has also met with civil liberties concerns.

What CCTV Cameras can do?

If you want to be able to actually see what happens while you're away, security cameras may calm your nerves. Video surveillance allows you to monitor or record activity in and around an area for many different reasons. For example, parents might want to watch over a sleeping child and lessen the risk of a dangerous fall from the crib. But a Security Camera System around the house can see people who approach the front door and maybe even catch a criminal in the act of breaking in.

Prevent Theft and Illegal Activities. . .

The primary purpose of installing surveillance cameras is to act as deterrence to robbers, criminals, petty thieves from indulging in theft, illicit and criminal activities. Security cameras are installed in bungalows, townhouses, apartment buildings, schools, university campuses, offices, stores, malls and other public areas. These cameras monitor suspicious activities; stop theft, vandalism and shoplifting; and alert you about real-time thefts.

IT and Data Centers Surveillance. . .

Monitoring security at large IT and data centers has become mandatory in the Computing Age. Every commercial enterprise, large business and federal government agency, and even small- and medium-size businesses, now maintain large, back-room IT centers to facilitate smooth running of business operations. Gigabytes and terabytes of mission-critical data reside in these IT hubs and data centers. To monitor the movement of authorized personnel, workers and other IT staff.

Anywhere Access. . .

The most convenient thing about CCTV security system is that the user can view the recorded footage anywhere, including office, home, or somewhere else without being present on site. Arrangement can even be made for live feeds to be watched real-time through Internet.

CCTV Cameras help you monitoring your Teenage Chilren

Many homeowners install an exterior CCTV surveillance system for the increased security of their homes and the added peace of mind for their families. However, installing an exterior video security system provides parents with the additional advantage of monitoring their teenagers’ activities and safety, especially when parents are not at home.
Often parents worry about leaving their teenagers home alone. Is my teen responsible enough to know what to do if something happens while I’m away? Can my adolescent be trusted when I’m not at home? There are many reasons why parents may install exterior surveillance cameras around their house to monitor and keep their children safe during their absence.
Parents may want to keep track of when their adolescents come and go. Are they leaving for school on time or attending school at all? Are they coming home safely from school or other activities when expected? Are they coming home after set curfew times? When teenagers are home alone, security cameras allow them to see who is at the door, such as gas or electric meter readers, delivery persons, or sales people, without opening the door first. Then teens can follow predetermined instructions on how to handle these types of visitors. If your child hears unexplained noises or suspects a burglar may be trying to get in your home, security cameras allow your teen to determine what or who is outside, and then take the appropriate action such as calling 911. Plus, video recordings may provide the police with valuable information that can help them capture and possibly convict any criminals.
